Vauxhall Plans to Lead the Electric Revolution

We are all aware that our dependence on oil should be reduced, petrol prices are high and the environmental impact of cars is severe. The major car manufacturers are now responding to the demands for greener cars and the CO2 emissions of new cars are now much lower than previous generations. However, petrol free cars are seen as the real future. Car manufacturers are currently experimenting with a variety of fuels, from hydropower to vegetable oils and LPG. Electric powered cars are also now being seriously considered as the cars of tomorrow and Vauxhall, one of the largest UK car manufacturers, has recently revealed plans to launch a range of electric cars.

The first production car will be called the Ampera. The UK government are keen for Vauxhall to choose their Ellesmere Port plant as the main European manufacturing base for this and all subsequent electric powered cars.

The plant currently employs over 2000 workers and the recent sale of Vauxhall by parent company GM to Canadian parts manufacturer Magnus has thrown the future of the UK Vauxhall sites into doubt. The Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Business Secretary Lord Mandelson are currently in talks with Magnus about a significant loan amount in order to secure the future of the sites, and the Prime Minister is quoted as saying that he “hopes the (Vauxhall) plant will become one of the leading electric car makers in Europe”. The Features and Options of the Mazda RX 8

The North American International Auto Show back in the year 2001 served as the avenue and channel for the Mazda Motor Corporation to show off and introduce to the public one of the vehicles that showed much potential and delivered greatly. This vehicle is the Mazda RX 8. During its introduction that year, it held a 250 PS JIS RENESIS engine that could produce some 247 units of horsepower at 8500 rpm. This engine won the International Engine of the Year award and the Best New Engine award in 2003.

The Mazda RX 8 was made available in two variants. These variants are the 197-horsepower base model that held an automatic transmission system, and the 238-horsepower performance model with a six speed manual transmission system. Of course, there are differences between these two trim levels. The Mazda RX 8 with the automatic transmission system holds standard features like air conditioning, sixteen inch wheels, power windows, power locks, and power mirrors. As per the trim level with the manual transmission system, this vehicle has the same features as per the other one however, it has added features like a limited slip differential, a sport tuned suspension, and 18 inch wheels and tires.
